Special guest drums up interest in pipe band role

Pupils in F1 and F2 were visited by Cameron Sinclair, a World Champion tenor drummer, and tenor drummer with the Fife Police Pipe Band, who joined them in their classrooms to demonstrate and talk about pipe band drumming.

And as if having a World Champion wasn’t inspiring enough, also present was the School’s Drum Sergeant, Steven Graham, a multiple major championship winner as a member of the Shotts and Dykehead pipe band.

Afterwards, Cameron also took time to hold a masterclass with some of the current members of the Pipe Band drum corps.

Steven Graham said, “It was great to be able to welcome Cameron to the school. We’re always looking to recruit more drummers into our pipe band, be it tenor, bass or snare, so hopefully Cameron’s visit will help to inspire some of the pupils to give it a go.”
