It is our intention that a High School of Dundee education should be available to any pupil who would benefit from it, regardless of their financial circumstances. Financial assistance is therefore provided to support those pupils who without that help may otherwise be unable to attend.
The awards vary according to the level of family income and are reviewed annually. As a guideline, should your gross household income be in excess of £80,000 you are unlikely to receive Financial Support.
Financial support ranges from 10% to 100% of your tuition fees and a typical level of award is between 20% to 60% of the tuition fee. The majority of Financial Support awards are made to pupils in Senior Years with limited Junior awards available for pupils joining L6 and L7.
The deadline for prospective parents for applications for Financial Support for the school year beginning August 2025 has now passed.
Prospective parents who would like to be considered for Financial Support for their child for entry in August 2026, must first complete our online Junior & Senior Years Application Form no later than 31st October 2025. We will then invite your child to come along to one of our entrance assessment visits which take place from the last week in October to 14th November and arrange a taster day in class.
Each year we receive a considerable number of applications for financial support but there are limited funds available. Late applications may considered if funds are not already exhausted.
‘My daughter has done nothing but thrive since she came to the school and has grown into a very capable young lady. What more could parents ask for?!’
As Financial Support is awarded based on your child’s academic ability together with your financial means, your child must perform highly in the entrance assessment to be put forward for consideration for an award of Financial Support. Shortly after your child’s assessment we will advise you of their results and you may then be sent a Financial Support Application Form to complete by 28th November 2025.
If your child performs well but does not qualify for Financial Support, you may still be offered a full fee-paying place at our school.
Current High School of Dundee parents who have experienced a change in financial circumstances, and would like to apply for a new, or a top-up of an existing award of Financial Support, must apply through the usual process and obtain an application form from the Chief Operating Officer, at bursaries@highschoolofdundee.org.uk
It is recognised that having three or more children at the school involves a significant financial commitment. A remission of a proportion of the fees will therefore be granted to families who have three or more children attending the School at any one time. In addition, where three or more children attend at any one time, families may apply for a discretionary remission.
For further information on these family remissions and on help with fees, please see the following guides:
