Sarah's Story

Sarah, Class of 2005

Sarah"I received a 75% bursary whilst I was at the High School and the education that I received has definitely stood me in good stead for the rest of my life.

What I've benefitted from the most is certainly exam experience. I went on to study at the University of Glasgow and I found that I was not over-faced by the prospect of exams and therefore felt comfortable preparing for them. Somehow, I've ended up working in the financial services sector and the exams I had to sit to become CII accredited have definitely been easier as a result of my exam experience at school.

In addition, I was also very lucky to receive an award for travelling, which enabled me to take a gap year volunteering in India after F6, so it was really fantastic to get some help from my school towards that.

I am pretty certain that I could not have attended the School without the bursary, so I'm very grateful that I got that support. I feel I should also highlight the excellent teaching staff, particularly Miss Smith and Mr McCulloch, who really were a great support to me through my school years."
