Help with Fees

Please note that the deadline for initial bursary applications from prospective parents for August 2024 is 31st October 2023, and the completed forms must be returned by 30th November 2023. For current families, the deadline for bursary applications is 30th November 2023 - please contact the Chief Operating Officer at coo@highschoolofdundee.org.uk for more information.

It’s our intention that a High School of Dundee education should be available to any academically gifted pupil who would benefit from it, regardless of their financial circumstances.  Financial assistance is therefore provided to support those pupils who without that help may otherwise be unable to attend. As a guideline, should your gross household income be in excess of £70,000 you are unlikely to receive bursary support.

There is very limited bursary support for pupils in L6 and L7 of the Junior School (up to 50% off your tuition fees). In Senior School bursary support ranges from 10% to 100% of your tuition fees and typical level of award is between 20% to 60% of the tuition fee.

‘My daughter has done nothing but thrive since she came to the school and has grown into a very capable young lady, what more could parents ask for!’

Awards are kept entirely confidential – pupils and teaching staff will not know that your child receives a Bursary, and applicants are not required to undergo specific testing, other than the standard entrance assessment.

Bursary Application Process

If you would like to be considered for bursary support for entry in August 2024 you must first complete our online application form no later than 31st October 2023. We will then invite your child to come along to our first entrance assessment sitting on Friday 3rd November 2023. Please note that there will be other non-bursary applicants also sitting their assessment during this visit and none of the staff looking after the children on the day are aware who is applying for bursary support as this is highly confidential

As bursary support is awarded based on your child's academic ability together with your financial means, your child must score highly in the entrance assessment to be put forward for consideration for a bursary.  We will advise you of the outcome your child's assessment and you may then be sent a Bursary Application Form to complete by 30th November 2023.

If your child performs well but does not qualify for bursary support you may still be offered a full fee paying place at our school.

Family Remissions - 3 children or more

A remission of a proportion of the fees will be granted to families who have four or more children attending the High School at any one time. Where three children attend at any one time, families may apply for a discretionary remission.
