Cameron's Story

Cameron, Class of 2013

Cameron

"I benefitted from a substantial bursary during all of my senior years at the High School of Dundee and I believe the education that I gained was definitely life-changing.

My bursary allowed me to continue gaining the high quality of education that the School has to offer whilst my mother went into full-time study to complete a nursing degree and to fulfil other roles within the army, which otherwise would not have been possible.

After receiving excellent support and education from teachers at the High School of Dundee, I was able to obtain 4 A's in my Scottish Highers. From these grades, I was accepted into the University of St Andrews where I graduated with a 2:1 Honours Degree in International Relations & Modern History in 2017.

My involvement with the extracurricular activities that were available to me during my school days, including Duke of Edinburgh and debating, were hugely beneficial to me when applying for a place at St Andrews, along with the support provided by my History & Modern Studies teachers.

Since graduating from University, I have been employed as a Security Consultant for a large corporate intelligence company based in Bath. This has allowed me to work within major mining, oil and gas multinationals located in East Africa and to advise them on terrorism and money laundering issues.

In addition to this, I am also employed by the Royal Navy, which proudly follows in my mother's footsteps as she is a British Army Reservist Officer serving as the second in command of the 225 Medical Regiment in Dundee."
