The pupils honed their skills during 3 days of practice on Loch Tay, and then set off on their Qualifying Expedition.

Ever the adaptable bunch, the pupils took a last minute change of route in their stride amidst low river levels, taking on the classic Rannoch Moor crossing starting near Glen Coe and travelling east over the moor to Rannoch Station.

The path to Rannoch was not without its trials! The pupils had to execute a portage, carrying their boats across a dry riverbed in intense heat, but after a whole day of hard work, the intrepid explorers were rewarded with two final days on Loch Laidon in idyllic conditions with wonderful mountain views.

Well done pupils! We’re sure this is a trip that you won’t soon forget…
