Piano playing takes centre stage

High School of Dundee pupils have used a special day of performances to share their love of the piano!

Senior Years Piano Day

Pupils from F1-F6 took part in the School’s Senior Years Piano Day, an annual event designed to celebrate piano music and piano playing.

Throughout the day, pianists ranging in ability from beginners to those working towards ABRSM exams, had the chance to give informal performances on the School’s grand piano in front of an audience in Trinity Hall.

Over 30 of the pupils then gave an impressive evening recital concert, featuring a range of classical and contemporary numbers, in front of parents, staff, fellow pupils and friends.

Senior Years Piano Day

Now in its 15th year, the event aims to give centre stage to the instrument by offering all of the school’s piano players the chance to share their passion through performance.

The event was organised by piano teachers Stephen Armstrong and Avril Evans.

They said, “No matter what stage of playing the piano you are at, sharing music is a very special thing and listening to and supporting each other is at the very heart of our Piano Day.”

Pianists in the Junior Years will have the chance to take part in their own Piano Day on June 3rd.
