Success snapped in school's annual competition

Over the summer holidays, photographers from across the school community entered our annual photography competition.

A number of stunning images were entered for the categories: Early Years, Junior, Parents, Pet, Secondary and Staff.

The format of the contest was a little bit different this year; while the images would normally be displayed in the school’s library and voted on by the pupils, they were judged this year by our Head of Technologies (and talented photographer!), Mr McBride. He was very impressed with the standard of images entered and had a difficult time narrowing down the winners, but we can finally share them with you today!

The overall winners are as follows:

Winner (pictured above): “Wave Power” by Conan Lyall (Secondary Category), 5AY1. “Taken on a beach near Vik in Southern Iceland.”

Runner-up: “Musée d’Orsay, Paris” by Graeme Hutton (Parent Category).

Third Place: “Simba comes to the Cairngorms” by Alasdair Grant (Junior Category), L7T. “This photograph was taken at top of Jock’s Road which I walked with my eight of my friends from school. It was an amazing but tiring day.”

Allan Wilson, Computing Science teacher, said, “We are very grateful for all the people who entered the Competition over the Summer holidays. Mr McBride was delighted that many families entered several images to the contest.

"The quality of photography gets better and better with each year that passes and we hope next year we can display them in pride of place in the library once more."

Well done to everyone who entered!
