HSD under starter's orders to back Olympian FP!

The High School of Dundee is under starter’s orders for a show of support for Olympian former pupil Eilish McColgan!

We were thrilled to see Eilish qualify for this summer’s Tokyo games by winning the European 10,000m Cup last weekend, becoming British champion in the process.

To show our backing for Eilish – who becomes just the 3rd Scottish woman, after mother Liz and Lee McConnell, to reach 3 successive Games in track and field – we are challenging pupils and their families to travel to the Japanese capital with her (virtually of course)!

During the spring term, the Junior Years took part in the Travel to Tokyo Challenge, and now we are encouraging the entire school community to join as one team to make a virtual journey to the host city in time for the 2021 Olympic and Paralympic Games!

Organised by Team GB and Paralympics GB, the event sees participants log physical activity, which is then converted into a distance, moving participants along a route to Tokyo.

With the journey taking in previous host cities all across the globe as well, the total target distance to be covered by July 23rd is a whopping 47,349km! But we’re confident that as a school community we can make it!

HSD families have received details of how to sign up and record their activity and we hope our participants will show their support for Eilish by sharing action shots and good luck messages on social media.

Those taking part will also be able to keep track of the team's progress and check out the weekly prize on a special School Dashboard.

Good luck everyone! #GoEilish
