HSD stages its 1st Festival of Sport!

The whole school community came together at Mayfield yesterday to take part in a host of amazing activities, music, stalls, and the usual heat of Sports Day competition.

With the sun shining, pupils from L1-F6 had the chance to embrace traditional athletics events, as well as take part in additional sporting challenges and house contests like tug-of-war, rounders and team games.

They also seized the opportunity to try their collective hands at the likes of fencing, speed orienteering, a balance slackline, fieldcraft, frisbee golf, target football and navigating a bike track!

Musical entertainment, bouncy castles, and stalls selling items ranging from pupil-made sweet treats, to glitter tattoos, ice-cream, strawberries and crafts made it a real carnival atmosphere.

In addition, fundraising took place for the charity Dundee Dragons, who were also on hand for demonstrations of wheelchair sports.

A fantastic day of entertainment was wrapped up vibrantly with the Parents’ Association’s fantastic Colour Run - to help raise funds for redevelopment of the school's playground – during which the smiles, and the colours of what were previously white t-shirts, spoke for themselves!

A huge thank you to everyone who was part of the day and all those who helped make it happen!
