On Friday, F3 Modern Studies pupils had the opportunity to enjoy a Teams call with the Principal Officer of the US Consulate in Edinburgh, Ellen Wong.

Ellen handles American Citizen Services in Scotland, as well as promoting the US-Scottish relationship, so had a wealth of knowledge for the pupils to tap into.

The youngsters listened eagerly as she spoke about her job, the role of the US Embassy, and comparisons between the US and Scottish Governments.

In addition, for those pupils who may wish to spread their wings further afield after school, Ellen was able to highlight the opportunities to live and work in the USA!

The youngsters made the most of the chance to pick Ellen’s brain, asking thought-provoking questions on topics such as the US view on free health care, whether Brexit had impacted her job, and what the impact of Scottish independence might be.
