Click-and-Collect - a new chapter in library services

Senior Years pupils and staff will again be able to borrow their favourite books from the school library, thanks to a brand-new click-and-collect service.

Click-and-Collect - a new chapter in library services

Owing to Covid restrictions, the library has so far been unable to return to full functionality after lockdown. However, it has since been finding innovative ways to continue offering resources to pupils and staff and the new click-and-collect service will enable senior pupils and staff to safely use physical publications once again.

Library staff and a team of 19 F4-F6 volunteers have launched the service which will allow for books to be reserved from the digital catalogue and then collected the following weekday between 12 and 12:50.

All books borrowed through the service are returned in drop boxes before being quarantined for three days and the pupil volunteers sanitise their desks and their hands regularly.

Zara Taylor (F4) was instrumental in rallying volunteer support, especially among her classmates, and drafted the initial volunteer rota to get the service up and running as soon as possible.

Librarian Siân Lloyd-Wiggins said, “The High School’s Library really is a fantastic resource.  I know a lot of people have missed being able to borrow from our collection of physical books, and we’re excited to be able to offer access to this once more.”

Siân and Library Assistant Julie Hutton have been working hard to make the library’s resources available to pupils in spite of the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. This has included story time for juniors, book boxes in L1-L3 classrooms and allowing all pupils and staff to borrow from over 1000 e-books.

Well done to those volunteering to make book borrowing safe for everyone!
