Budding Artist Raising Money For Charity
6th June 2020
The creative endeavors of a budding High School of Dundee artist have resulted in a bumper donation for a Dundee charity.
Lauren Chesters, L2, has so far raised a fantastic £665 for Dundee Bairns by selling t-shirts emblazoned with colourful artwork which she has created during lockdown.
And the 7-year-old hopes to raise even more in the weeks ahead.
Lauren’s mum Estelle explained, “A virtual lesson with Miss Wallace (Lauren’ teacher) on Van Gogh tasked Lauren with some homework to paint her own version of Starry Night. For fun we created a Facebook page for her and the painting was immediately bought by our friends for a £50 donation to the NHS.
“After that we decided to get some t-shirts made up with Lauren’s paintings on the front to raise money for local charities. She has now done many paintings using acrylic on canvas and through the support of friends and family buying the t-shirts we have raised £665 which we are donating to a wonderful local charity ‘Dundee Bairns’.
“We are very proud of her efforts and plan to keep the fundraising going.”
Dundee Bairns provides meals for vulnerable children and families in Dundee and has dished out more than 100,000 meals in the last 2 years alone. You can find out more about the charity at: https://dundeebairns.org/
Lauren’s aim is to raise £1000 plus for the charity. If you’d like to buy a t-shirt, 4 different designs are available (see below), in the following sizes:
Ladies XS, S, M, L, XL (£15)
Gents S, M, L, XL, XXL (£15)
Kids 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-11 years (£12)
For an idea of sizing, Lauren is modelling a Ladies size M.
