Pupils bring their own production to the stage

F3 and F6 pupils collaborated to create and perform their own piece of drama for the Next Up Festival

Pupils from the High School of Dundee have come together to create and perform their own piece of original drama.

Following intensive rehearsals, a 12-strong group of F3 and F6 pupils brought their production, ‘Secrets’, to Dundee Rep’s main stage as part of this past weekend’s Next Up Festival, which was a celebration of the work of young theatre-makers in the North East of Scotland.

F6 pupil Sam Marshall explained, "We as young people are increasingly concerned with our Mental Health and Wellbeing, so we wanted to create a piece of drama which recognises that it is out there and is our secret enemy."

As part of the festival, the pupils also took part in a series of workshops, before giving a public performance of their piece, which used Verbatim Theatre and was inspired by the work of Frantic Assembly, on Saturday evening.
