Upon arriving at the school, both George, known to his close friends and family as Graham, and sister Moira were following in the footsteps of their mother Jenny, a former pupil from Class Year 1928.
Whilst at the school, Graham excelled in sports, particularly athletics, in which he later competed at national level.
After leaving the school, he went to work for British American Tobacco and spent 20 years with them, working in the UK as well as in New Zealand and Asia. He then moved back to New Zealand with his family and settled in Wellington where he bought and expanded a business.
Although he had lived abroad for many years, Graham retained closed friendships with many of his school friends.
Graham is survived by his wife Catherine, his two sons, three grandchildren and his sister Moira.
