Kathleen, also affectionately known as Kay, attended the High School of Dundee from 1947 until 1953. In her final year she was awarded the Dott Memorial Medal for excellence in needlework, textiles and design; a subject she went on to study at Robert Gordon’s College in Aberdeen.
She then obtained her teaching qualification from Aberdeen College of Education, and came back to the school to teach in Miss Dickey’s Domestic Science Department.
Her time at the school ended in 1959 following her marriage to Roddy, who she met in Aberdeen, and they relocated to Glasgow.
Eventually, they did move back to Dundee after having a family, living in Broughty Ferry and then Newport-on-Tay. Their children attended the school whilst Kathleen taught needlework in a number of primary schools throughout Dundee.
Kathleen took early retirement in 1987 when she and Roddy moved to Perth. During her retirement she continued to enjoy her passion for needlework and, after having enjoyed tennis for many years, she took up golf. She was taken ill whilst on the Alyth Golf course and passed away a few days later.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, her son Graeme (Class of 1980), her daughter Lindsay Joslin (Class of 1981), four grandchildren and a great-grandson.
