Getting it right from the start

The best start for every nursery child

a picture of students running

Each child is unique and a young person’s brain develops more rapidly up to the age of 5 than it ever will again.

It’s therefore crucial to get it right for every nursery child.

At our Nursery, everything we do is driven by that goal.

Learning through play

We offer a vibrant, welcoming and stimulating nursery education for 3-5 year-olds.

Our overriding aim is to encourage each child to be confident and caring, and to develop a true love of learning. The Nursery provides a fun and friendly learning environment which prepares children for the crucial transition to primary years education, regardless of which school your child goes on to. We even have a Nursery to P1 Transition Practitioner, dedicated to helping children negotiate this vital step.

Our nursery space, both indoors and out, provides the very best play-based learning opportunities for each child whilst at the same time being nurturing, comfortable, safe and fun. Children at the Nursery learn across a broad curriculum with staff gently extending that learning at every opportunity through play and fun activities. The children will see this as simply playing and having fun. But they are working to develop the skills which will support their future learning without even realising it.

Involving parents

We firmly believe there should be a real and strong partnership with parents. Your feedback will always be welcome as we strive to ensure that we make your child’s experience happy and fun.

Parents will receive regular feedback from your child’s Key Person and more formal written reports will also be provided.

Inspection Reports

In its most recent inspection report (March 2019), the High School of Dundee Nursery received a glowing assessment from the Care Inspectorate, receiving praise for developing happy and confident children.
