Former High School of Dundee Art teacher Pat Leishman has died at the age of 98.
Well known as a talented painter of vibrant watercolour abstract works, Pat was born in Dundee but spent her childhood years in South Africa and Exeter, Devon.
Returning to Dundee, she spent happy years at Harris Academy and Dundee Art College before going on to teach in the Art department at Bell Baxter High School in Cupar. It was there Pat met her future husband, fellow art teacher and painter Robert Leishman.
After marrying, the couple painted together at their house in Dundee, onto which a studio was added at the back.
She was a much-respected Art teacher at HSD for 17 years before leaving in October 1982 to devote her energies full-time to her work as an artist.
Both Pat and Robert were active in the Dundee Art Society, serving as president at different times.
After Robert sadly died in 1989, Pat enjoyed spending time with her wide circle of friends and colleagues.
In her later years she got together with long-standing family friend Jim Currie, and carried on painting. She was even teaching art classes at the age of 97.
Pat is survived by her step-family in Fife: daughter Carol, grandchildren Ingrid, Chris and Gavin and their partners and grandchildren Melanie and Lachlan.
She is also survived by her nephews in South Africa: Alan, Rob and Raymond Croxford, and her cousins in California: Thomas Bain, Ronald Alexander Bain and Alexandrian Bain Blount Black.
