HSD raises £17.7K for charity in 2024/25

The High School of Dundee has raised more than £17K for charity in session 2024/25

We’re delighted to announce that our school community has raised an amazing £17.7K for charity this session.

The Charities and Community Outreach total has been generated through a whole school effort across the Nursery, Junior and Senior Years.

The money raised has supported 33 registered charities, while 340 hot water bottles were donated to Togs, 360 Christmas presents were donated to Help for Kids, 4643 stationary items were collected for Enactus and 538 items were donated to Dundee and Angus Foodbank.

Our pupils have also volunteered over 10,000 hours at a range of local placements in the community.

In addition, this year saw community outreach on a mass-scale through the Social Inequalities Conference which the School hosted at the Caird Hall in September. The event welcomed 2,000 Modern Studies pupils from schools from across Scotland with the goal of inspiring solutions to ingrained social issues from the next generation.

This session’s figure brings the total generated over the past 6 sessions to almost £100K (£98.7K).

Karlene Douglas, the school’s Charities and Community Outreach Co-ordinator, said, “A special thank you is due to Rotakids (Junior Years charity group), Interact (Senior Years) and the Enterprise team for their continued efforts throughout the year, and to all staff who have supported the fantastic fundraising work.

“It’s always incredibly rewarding to see the pupils working so hard for others.

“Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the total raised and played a part in the Charities and Community Outreach programme this year.”
