Aspiring medics and dentists given uni applications check-up

Pupils taking part in MMI session in preparation for UCAS interviews

Aspiring HSD medics and dentists have been given an invaluable university applications check-up.

Eight pupils took part in mock MMIs (Multiple Mini Interviews), gaining insightful practice ahead of their UCAS course admissions interviews.

The stations were hosted by teachers and three alumni who only recently have been in the pupils’ shoes themselves – current 2nd year medical students Libby, Maya and Sara.

From personal statement discussions to health topics, calculation tasks, and role play scenarios, the mini interviews gave the pupils a range of relevant experiences to help them prepare.

The event was capped off with a Q&A led by the former pupils.

Further recent interview preparation sessions have also included engineering, Oxbridge, and veterinary courses.

Deputy Head, David Smith, said, “It was fantastic to see our prospective medics and dentists step up to the fast-paced evening and demonstrate their deep understanding of and commitment to their future careers.

“Our aim throughout the applications process is to give our pupils all the guidance and support they need to succeed.”
