Geographers enjoy spectacular Iceland trip

High School of Dundee pupils have returned from an EPIC trip to Iceland – where geography comes to life spectacularly!

In the space of a few unforgettable days the Senior Years group explored thundering waterfalls, erupting geysers, sparkling glaciers, volcanic landscapes and more.

From seeing some of Planet Earth’s newest land from atop the cooled lava flow at the evacuated town of Grindavik, to standing between the tectonic plates of Europe and North America at Pingvellir, the trip offered the chance to witness stunning examples of natural and human geography.

The group embraced Icelandic culture too, following the example of the locals by enjoying an evening dip in geothermal pools, followed by another iconic cultural must-have – the pylsur or Icelandic hot dog.

Memories were made, friendships forged, and minds were blown by stunning visual demonstrations of nature’s power.
