Peter Mackenzie

1945 - 2024

We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of our former colleague and Head of French, Peter Mackenzie.

Peter passed away at the age of 79 in St Ronan’s Care Home. Born on March 8th, 1945, he was the son of a Navy dental surgeon and, like many military children, moved from place to place for his father’s work.

He worked at Anderson High School in the Shetlands and Whitfield High School in Dundee before being appointed Head of the French Department at HSD in 1986. Peter was known for being a well-read man with a brilliant intellect and was a pioneer of IT at our school.

He retired in 2004 and will be remembered fondly by all of us here at the High School of Dundee.
