The start of Session 2026/27 marks an exciting new chapter in the life of The High School of Dundee as Irfan Latif takes up his role as our new Executive Rector.
Having been appointed in the Spring, Irfan now takes on the position following the retiral of Lise Hudson as Rector.
Chair of the High School of Dundee Board of Directors, David Thomson, says, “Following a rigorous recruitment process, the Board was delighted to appoint Irfan to lead HSD into the next stage of its long and distinguished history. He brings extensive educational leadership experience, energy and fresh perspectives, together with an ambitious and compelling vision for the future of the School.
“Having had the opportunity to spend time with Irfan since his appointment was announced, I am even more enthusiastic about what lies ahead and delighted to welcome him formally to HSD.”
Irfan says, “I am absolutely delighted to have taken on the role of Executive Rector of The High School of Dundee. It is a tremendous privilege to succeed Lise Hudson, whose leadership, dedication and service have left a lasting legacy for the School.
“Since my appointment was announced, I have been fortunate to visit the School on a number of occasions and to spend time with many colleagues. The warmth of the welcome my family and I have received has been remarkable and has confirmed everything I had hoped about this very special school.
“I am ambitious for HSD and for what we can achieve together, but above all our purpose remains clear: to ensure that every young person enjoys an exceptional education, is known and valued as an individual, and leaves us with the confidence, character, skills and ambition to flourish in the real world.”
Fron the entire school community, welcome to HSD, Irfan!
