The HSD Junior School has handed over a bumper donation to the Dundee and Angus Foodbank.
Following a recent assembly by teacher Niall Joss’s L7 class, which looked at the themes of Harvest and being thankful, a collection took place for the charity.
A huge amount of food – with a focus on items that are in short supply at the Foodbank – was donated by families from across the whole Junior School, and was collected each day by members of the RotaKids (Junior Years charity fundraising group) who visited each class.
After all the goods (including more than 100 tins of beans) were gathered together, pupils Oscar, Eesha, Maia and Layla were delighted to help Ken Linton, Dundee and Angus Foodbank Manager, and Hannah Cheek, Deputy Manager of Dundee and Angus Foodbank, load the donation into the Foodbank van.
Ken said, “A huge thank you to the pupils and their families for the very generous donation of 269.4kg of food. This will help feed 26 individuals or 20 couples or 10 families with a nutritionally balanced three-day emergency food parcel.”
