HSD Pupil Scoops Top Award at Leng Gold Medal Competition

Congratulations to HSD pupil Zoe Loveday, who has been named as the winner of the girls’ Gold Leng Medal!

Zoe scooped the award after impressing judges with her rendition of The Dundee Ghost.

She performed the song during the Gold medal competition, which was held at DC Thomson’s Meadowside Office.

Zoe’s win marks the ninth time out of the previous ten competitions that a HSD pupil has won either the boys’ or girls’ Gold Leng medal.

The Gold competition is open to any pupil who has previously won their school’s Silver medal competition, which is held annually across the city.

Zoe was joined at the competition by this year’s Senior winners, Kirsty Caddick and Shahzad Hossain-Ibrahim, Junior winners, Eesha Prasad and William Walker, and previous winners, Alexandra Clark and Sophie Thomson.

Together, the HSD pupils accounted for seven of the 26 competitors.

Speaking after the event, Zoe said she “felt great”.

She continued: “This is my second year, and it was amazing to do it again.”
