HSD donates hundreds of gifts to Help for Kids Christmas campaign

Anthony Kent hands over the Help for Kids Christmas donation

We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone in the HSD community who supported our Help for Kids Christmas collection.

The Christmas trees of the Nursery, Junior and Senior schools were surrounded by presents over the last few weeks as donations came flooding in.

Anthony Kent, the school’s Charities and Community Outreach Co-ordinator, said, “Thanks to the generosity of the HSD community, we have been able to hand over hundreds of presents that will be distributed to children living in poverty around Dundee in time for Christmas.

“A special thank you goes to Mrs Coupar and the Junior School Rota Kids group who collected an incredible amount and were an invaluable help in loading the donations in the big present move to Help For Kids headquarters at the Kingsway Industrial Park.”

The campaign has been a whole community effort and has led to some clear links to learning in the classroom. Both Higher and Form 2 Modern Studies pupils were involved in moving presents and this linked with their work on social inequality, particularly from a Dundee perspective, in the classroom. High Performance Sport pupils were also involved in the ‘big move’ of presents.

Help For Kids accept donations all year round so it is never too late to donate. For more information please their website https://helpforkids.org.uk/
