Creativity goes into overdrive in Comic in a Day

Colourful characters have come to life on the page in an amazing art extravaganza!

Inspiring imagination and creativity were on full display as Form 1 pupils enjoyed a special Comic in a Day event as part of Activities Week.

The budding young artists were challenged to produce their own exciting strips after being guided through key tasks like developing narrative arcs, characters and plots, creating scenery and planning lettering and panels.

Working in house groups, the pupils then brought their concepts together and laid their pages out using Procreate.

A judging panel then picked the publications to put through to a presentation ceremony to round off the day. But with some fantastic comic creations on view, featuring impressive examples of illustration, model building, paintwork and more, they had a tough job on their hands!

Art teacher Jo Cura, who organised the event, said, “It was wonderful to have so much fun, and a full day of play, with the Form 1 pupils.

“Our pupils were all so engaged and worked hard to achieve the task of creating a comic in a day. The results were brilliant, and it was a hard job to pick winners. We are so lucky to have such creative and talented pupils.”
