HSD pupils have been honing their outdoor skills by taking on their Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions!
Nine teams from the High School recently completed both their practice and qualifying expeditions for their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards, travelling to locations including Feshie, Laggan, Amulree, and Braemar.
Each expedition lasted three days and two nights, with pupils working in groups of five to seven as they carried their own gear, set up their own camps, and cooked for themselves.
Meanwhile, five groups of pupils numbering between six and eight took on a challenging week-long Gold expedition which saw them canoe from Killin to Perth.
They began by crossing Loch Tay before paddling their way down the River Tay to the Fair City!
While it wasn’t easy going, our young canoeists thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, describing it as a “once in a lifetime opportunity”.
