Pupils Make Memories for Life On China Trip

Some High School of Dundee pupils enjoyed an amazing blend of cultural immersion and historical exploration as they visited China!

During an action-packed 13-day trip, the group of Senior Years pupils travelled to a number of locations, immersing themselves in a range of unforgettable experiences in the process!

First stop was Tianjin, where pupils explored lively streets, bustling food markets, and landmarks like the Porcelain House and Zhang Xueliang Mansion, quickly connecting with the local culture.

Next was Qufu, birthplace of Confucius, where pupils gained insight into Confucian philosophy and its relevance to modern values.

In Jiujiang, pupils visited a local school, learned about traditional Chinese medicine, and engaged in hands-on activities like ribbon dancing, tea tasting, and a hike up Lushan Mountain, with stunning views of the Yangtze River. The hotel’s historical background, once hosting national dignitaries, added to the experience.

Finally, in Beijing, pupils explored the Forbidden City and tackled a challenging climb up the Great Wall, where breathtaking views added to the sense of accomplishment.

Teacher of Madarin, Yunchao Murdoch, led the trip. She said:It was wonderful to receive feedback from the pupils and staff that the trip not only facilitated learning but also personal growth and lasting friendships.

The experiences gained will have a long-term impact, both academically and socially, as pupils continue to reflect on their time abroad.
