Why Attend?
L4/5 is a significant point in a child’s development. At this stage, children become more aware of their progress and how they relate to their peers, both academically and socially. A positive, supportive learning environment at this time can help build confidence, resilience, and a strong foundation for future learning.
Discovery Days allow pupils to experience learning in a calm, structured setting, supporting both confidence and engagement. For some children, this reinforces their enjoyment of school, for others, it provides reassurance and support where there may be gaps or uncertainty.
What to Expect
Children will spend a full day, or two days, in an L4 class, taking part in normal lessons alongside current pupils. Depending on the day, children may have the opportunity to experience Music or P.E., as well as lessons in Computing Science, Art and French.
The day is designed to reflect typical classroom life, helping pupils feel settled and included. All children will receive a take-home pack to share what they have learned and experienced with their parents or carers.
How it Differs From a Tour
A Tour is a shorter, guided visit for parents. It can be arranged on a date that suits you, and your child is welcome to join. We’ll tailor the tour to focus on the areas that matter most to your family.
Our Discovery Days, on the other hand, takes place on a set date. It’s a special opportunity to see the school in action as lessons unfold, meet key staff, and experience the buzz of a normal day at the High School of Dundee.
