Thrilling tour brings Frankenstein history to life

Pupils gather in Dundee street to walk in Mary Shelley's footsteps
A thrilling tour through some of Dundee’s hidden corners has brought the inspiration for Frankenstein to life!

Did you know Mary Shelley lived in the city for 18 months as a teenager? Our F2 English classes retraced her footsteps to learn how Dundee, its history and stories from its whaling industry helped spark the imagination behind the famous tale.

From eerie alleyways to dramatic storytelling, they even met a mysterious (yet familiar-looking!) figure dressed as one of Shelley’s creations – Captain Walton himself!

What an electrifying way to uncover literary history!
