We are thrilled to announce that the High School of Dundee has been named as one of only two ABRSM Partner Schools in Scotland, and one of only 18 in the UK.
The ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) Partner Schools programme celebrates schools that share the organisation’s values and enter a significant number of students for ABRSM examinations.
Huge numbers of our pupils take these exams across a full range of instruments from beginner pre-grade 1 all the way to advanced level grade 8, with some going on to achieve professional diplomas from the ABRSM.
Granting of partnership status is an amazing recognition of the School’s commitment to fostering musical excellence, engaging our pupils in high-quality music education, and excellence in exam performance. It also reflects the outstanding performance level of our pupils, and the inspiring guidance that they receive from our dedicated music teachers.
Piano teacher and ABRSM lead at the School, Stephen Armstrong, said, “To be one of only two schools in Scotland to have been selected as a partner school is a tremendous honour.
“Commitment to music learning is an incredible skill and something that lasts for a lifetime. The music department values these exams enormously for their status in the music world and their consistently high standard of assessment, giving learners the opportunity to develop their musical performance skills and give them a superb sense of achievement.”
The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music is the UK’s largest music exam board with over 100 years of delivering high quality assessments in music performance and music theory.
We look forward to working in partnership with ABRSM as we continue to strive to inspire the next generation of amazing young musicians.
