Visiting the School

High School of Dundee exteriorYou are strongly encouraged to visit the School before deciding whether or not we will provide a suitable environment for your child.

You may choose to visit the School during our annual Open Morning, or arrange an individual tour for you and your family during a normal school day.  Each offers a slightly different perspective on life at the High School.

Open Morning

Open Morning takes place on the first Saturday in November.  You should arrive in good time to register before the morning begins at 9am with a welcome from the Rector.  Following a brief overview of the School, your family will be paired up with one of our pupils, who will take you on a tour of the classrooms, with plenty of opportunity to talk to staff and question your guide about their experiences of day-to-day life in the School.  After the tour, staff are on hand to answer any remaining questions that you may have about everything from Bursaries or pastoral care to the admissions process.  You should allow around three hours for your visit to Open Morning.  Car parking is available in the School playground at the front of the main building.

Our next Open Morning will take place at 8.45am On Saturday 6 November 2010.  You are welcome to register in advance for this event from the beginning of October.  More>

Individual tours

Individual tours can be arranged for your family at most times during term-time.  A member of staff will accompany you on a tour of classrooms and key departments, and answer any questions that you may have. Although there are fewer opportunities to talk directly to pupils and teaching staff during a tour, it will allow you to build a picture of our normal working day, and witness first-hand the interaction between teachers and pupils.
