HSD sports teams display commitment to anti-racism

The match tops being worn by the School’s rugby 1st XV team and the girls 1st XI hockey side this session feature a striking logo incorporating the message ‘Get Active Against Racism’.

After a pupil group was formed at the school last year with a focus on education on issues surrounding racism, the PE department decided to hold a competition which tasked pupils with creating an anti-racism logo to be added to some of the team sports kits.

A number of striking designs were entered into the contest, with the artwork devised by James Tonks eventually chosen as the winner.

Director of Sport Ewan Jack said, “I am absolutely delighted that the pupils have come up with this wonderful logo to show our commitment to ‘Get Active Against Racism’.

“We continue to strive to ensure that PE and Sport at HSD is a fully inclusive environment so please watch this space for further initiatives.”

The logo will also be added to the match tops of the netball 1st VII squad shortly.
