Rowers making their mark

A team of High School of Dundee pupils are celebrating not one but two oarsome achievements in the world of rowing!

Rowers making their mark

Over the summer Alastair Leonard (F3), Angus Clark (F3), Conor Arbuckle (F3) and Hamish Forrester (F3) travelled to Stranraer to take part in the Skiffie (coastal rowing) World Championships.

Representing Broughty Ferry Boating, of the Royal Tay Yacht Club, in the U17 event, the boys overcame challenging, choppy conditions to finish in 7th place in the world – an impressive distinction in what was their first-ever competition race!

Spurred on by their success, the quartet - joined by Zac Neser (F3) - were back in their skiff this past weekend to test themselves in regional competition at the North East Championships in the Cromarty Firth.

Rising to the challenge presented by a 1.2-mile course around some of the oil rigs just off the coast, in tough conditions, the boys saw off the opposition to be crowned champions!
