Pupils visit Scottish Parliament
28th October 2022
Yesterday, HSD Higher and Advanced Higher Modern Studies pupils had the chance to see democracy in action as they paid a visit to the Scottish Parliament.
The pupils were given a guided tour of the Parliament, including the Debating Chamber, MSP offices and the Committee Rooms, and even had a chance to mix with MSPs in the Garden Lobby, watching as a number were interviewed by news channels and journalists.
The pupils enjoyed front row seats to watch First Ministers Questions, followed by their own Q&A session with Dundee West MSP Joe Fitzpatrick, who fielded questions on dissertation topics and a range of political issues. Nicky Lawson from Mr Fitzpatrick’s team also answered questions on his role in supporting an MSP in the local constituency and in the Scottish Parliament.
Head of History and Modern Studies Gordon Fyall said, “It was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to see democracy in action.
“A huge thank you to Joe Fitzpatrick MSP and his team for organising an unforgettable experience for our pupils!”
