Children from the Junior Years Digital Leaders group were delighted to be able to talk to Kate Forbes, Minister for Public Finance and Digital Economy, about the work they have been doing to promote and enhance digital learning, when she visited the school on Friday.

After meeting the young IT enthusiasts, the MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch also spent time in the Senior School’s Maths and Computing departments.

Miss Forbes’ visit was part of a coordinated programme organised by the High School, NCR, the Data Lab, Waracle, Ninja Kiwi, Abertay University and the V&A Dundee, in order to showcase Dundee’s digital, design and technology industries and the talent within them.

The day’s events saw Miss Forbes spend time at each of the organisations, enabling her to observe the close connectivity of education and business in the city.

Maths Teacher Kevin Hodgson, who organised the School’s involvement in the event, said, “Most importantly our wonderful pupils simply shone and were a great credit to the school and staff in promoting our digital learning.

“We were delighted the Minister made the visit and she embraced the warmth and engagement of our school community. It was a thoroughly successful visit.”
