L7 pupils recently welcomed Michelle Sloan – a former teacher in the Junior Years and now a children’s author - back to the School to talk to them about her novel, ‘The Revenge of Tirpitz’.

Michelle spoke to the youngsters about the Nazi occupation of Norway, the Shetland Bus (a Shetland-based boat operation to assist the Norwegian resistance movement during WWII), and how she created a fictional work around these events.

The children then had the chance to bring the story to life themselves by role playing Winston Churchill and war experts as well as boats, fighter planes and even the sea, islands and a storm!

The author rounded off her visit by sharing with the pupils her tips for becoming a writer.
