Pupils demonstrate formula for success!

16 pupils took part in the competition, which aims to promote a love of problem solving in schools, scooping three silver and seven bronze certificates for their efforts.

In addition, gold certificates were awarded to Steven Chen and Ethan McColgan in Form 6, with both pupils invited back to compete in follow-up rounds at the end of last month as a result of their impressive scores.

Ethan qualified for the British Mathematical Olympiad, which acts as a gateway to training and selection programmes for international competitions, after answering 24 out of 25 questions correctly, while Steven earned a spot in the Senior Kangaroo Round.

Only the top 60% of participants in the challenge achieve a bronze, silver or gold award, with around 6000 of the highest performers then invited to take part in the Senior Kangaroo round, and around 1000 invited take part in the Olympiad.
