Pupils book place in literature quiz UK final

Pupils from the High School of Dundee have booked themselves a place in the UK final of a major literature contest.

Pupils from the High School of Dundee are through to the UK final of the Kids' Lit Quiz

On Friday, the team of Jonathan Henderson, Neil Bhat, Libby Finnegan and Eilidh Acford travelled to Harlaw Academy in Aberdeen to take part in the North East Scotland heat of the Kids' Lit Quiz, an international competition based on questions on children’s books.

There, competing against 22 other teams, the quartet plotted their way to first place with an impressive demonstration of knowledge over the course of ten challenging rounds.

Their prize is a place in next month’s UK final in London, where they will go up against all of the other heat-winners for the right to represent the UK in the World Final in New Zealand in July.

The other HSD team taking part in the regional heat (Clara Fraser, Yi Wang, Rachel Brewster-Black, and Sara Okhai) also did themselves proud, winning the puzzle round, while Clara also scooped a spot prize.

The Kids' Lit Quiz is an annual literature competition for students aged 10 - 13 years. Each year, quizzes are held in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Indonesia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand, United Kingdom and USA, before the winners of the national contests compete in the Grand Final.
