Iain Bett has given outstanding service to the school over the years, and we wish him a healthy, happy retirement.

The School is delighted to announce the election of Kay Pratt as the new Chair of its Board of Directors.

Iain Bett said “It’s been an honour to serve as both Chairman and a Director and I am very pleased to be handing over to Kay, who I know is hugely passionate about the School and has a wealth of experience to bring to the role.”

After being heavily involved in the School’s Wellbeing and Child Protection Working Group over a number of years, Kay joined the Board in 2019. She has held a number of senior managerial positions within the NHS over approximately 40 years, including the role of Child Health Commissioner for NHS Tayside. She is also a trustee of The ARCHIE Foundation, and was Chairman of the 5th Dundee (Downfield) Scout Group from 2012 – 2019. Both of Kay’s children attended the High School.

Kay, who will become the Board’s first female Chair, said, “I am absolutely delighted to be appointed as Chair elect for the High School of Dundee. We live in eventful times and it has never been more important to ensure our children and young people are prepared for the challenges they will face in the world in the years to come. The long successful history of the High School of Dundee means we are in a very good position to confidently prepare our pupils for these challenges, and it is a real privilege to be able to play some small part in their journey.  I look forward to engaging with the pupils and their parents on this journey. I also very much look forward to working with the other Directors of the school and the staff, both teaching and non-teaching, and feel extremely fortunate to be working with such talented, experienced and committed people.”
