This year’s winner was percussionist Cameron Maclean, who performed a brilliant rendition of Yellow after the Rain (Mitchell Peters) and Étude in C (Clair Omar Musser) on the marimba.

After a highly detailed analysis, adjudicator Allan Young decided to award three Highly Commended awards to Cassie Greig (voice) and Daniel Higgins (in both piano and violin).

Director of Music, Lionel Steuart-Fothringham said, “I was delighted with the very high standard displayed by our pupils at this years’ Premier Quaich Competition for best Musical Performer. All pupils showed sensitive musical expression and technical assurance while on stage.

“My thanks go to my colleagues who have taught the pupils and accompanied them in their performances, and to Mr Allan Young, Music Co-ordinator of the Instrumental Music Services at Perth & Kinross Council, for his detailed and instructive adjudication of the event.”

Congratulations to our winner, runners-up, and all who took part for their hard work and achievements!
