Junior Years mathematician celebrates UKMT success!

A budding Junior Years mathematician is celebrating sumthing special!

Haoqi Lui scored 100% in the UKMT Anniversary Challenge

Haoqi Liu was the only L7 pupil at the school to sit the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge 25th Anniversary Challenge, and he took the contest by storm, scoring a perfect 100%!

The anniversary event consisted of 25 questions which had all been used before in the previous 25 years of the UKMT Junior Challenge, which is normally only open to S1 and S2-aged pupils.

However, taking his place alongside 86 Senior Years fellow number-crunchers, Haoqi rose to the occasion, solving all of the complex mathematical problems in his path to become the only HSD pupil – and one of only a very small number nationwide - to achieve the maximum mark.

His teacher Chloe Devlin, said, “We are all extremely proud of Haoqi's success. His love of Mathematics and Problem Solving is something we hope to encourage in all pupils in Junior Years. He's an inspiration to us all - well done Haoqi!"
