HSD marks end of school year with Prize-giving

The High School of Dundee has marked the end of a busy school year with its traditional prize-giving ceremony.

HSD marks end of school year with Prize-giving

Pupils, proud parents and staff gathered together at the Caird Hall to watch members of the departing F6 cohort bid their official farewells to the School, and to see pupils from L4 upwards presented with prizes in recognition of their efforts and achievements in a range of subjects.

Because of the restrictions which Covid had imposed over the last two years, it was the first time since 2019 that the School had been able to hold the event at the Caird Hall and the HSD Pipe Band was on hand to welcome the attendees into the ceremony in style.

Rector Lise Hudson reflected on some of the highlights from a packed academic session, before thanking the staff for their hard work and dedication over the year and paying special tribute to several staff members who are retiring.

Presenting the prizes was the guest of honour, former pupil Graham Stuart. The BAFTA-winning TV producer, who set up the production company SO Television with Graham Norton in 2000, shared some amusing anecdotes from his career and from his own time at HSD, as well as offering some advice and words of wisdom to the pupils, especially the F6 leavers as they get set to move on to universities across Scotland and beyond.

And as the ceremony drew to a close and the pupils, parents and staff moved outside to City Square, it was time for the summer holidays to begin!
