HSD Gets Active in Lockdown!

During lockdown, it can be hard to keep fit and active. Luckily, the HSD PE department has come up with the perfect solution to get us into the fresh air with a bit of friendly competition!

The HSD Get Active challenge is challenging the four school houses – Airlie, Aystree, Lindores and Wallace - and staff, to demonstrate who is the most active! Anyone in the High School community can record their minutes of physical activity, which are then totaled up for their ‘team’.

Currently, over 225 pupils, staff, parents, and former pupils are taking part, with participants having tracked their minutes of walking, running, cycling, horse riding, kayaking, sledging, skiing, and snowboarding!

As things stand on the leaderboard, the staff team has the edge but with the challenge running (literally) until everyone is back at school, there is still time left for the houses to catch up!

The PE department decided to set up the challenge to inspire the community to keep active through some friendly competition. Head of PE and Games, Ewan Jack, said, “I am absolutely delighted that so many pupils, parents, staff and FP’s are taking part and getting active. Hopefully, a blast of physical activity along with some ‘friendly’ house rivalry can act as a distraction until lockdown is over."

If you haven’t signed up yet, get active to help your house! We look forward to sharing the much-anticipated results!
