Friends of HSD Host Musical Extravaganza At Their Cabaret Evening

Friday evening saw the Friends of the High School of Dundee host their second Musical Supper. The musically entertaining event took place in Trinity Hall and was again, incredibly successful.

Guests were treated to a deliciously filling sit-down meal, again prepared and served by Ian Cooke, a Dundee-based chef, whilst the refreshing beverages were provided by the Dundee Gin Company, which is managed by Class of 1985 Former Pupil, Peter Menzies.

A 'Heads & Tails' game, which focused on questions about Dundee and its surrounding areas, left guests pulling out their thinking caps as they battled it out for the first-place prize - a case of wine partly sponsored by McNicol & Cairnie of Broughty Ferry. Ian Baird was crowned the winner after a couple of tense and tricky rounds of questions.

Then followed one of the Friends' renowned Auctions, which saw plenty of successful bidding. Prizes included a 'can't be bought' tour of the offices and printing works of DC Thomson, as well as two very unique bottles of whisky.

The entertainment from Downfield Musical Society was definitely the outstanding element of the night, with guests getting involved and singing along to a variety of Queen's biggest hits and songs from The Greatest Showman. There was also a superb solo rendition of 'My Funny Valentine', which proved a favourite amongst many guests.

If you're wondering when the next Friends' event will be, you'll be waiting until the New Year is upon us as they host their second Quiz Night on 22 January, again at the Fort Hotel. Details for this will be available a little later on in the year.
