FPs Discover Hidden Secrets of Churchill's War Rooms

Alumni of all ages came together for the first London alumni event of the year where they were able to walk in the footsteps of Winston Churchill and his War Cabinet to explore the hidden labyrinth of corridors underneath Westminster.

Our FPs were treated to a guided tour of the War Rooms and were able to see what life was truly like during those tense days and nights. They visited the Map Room, which has remained exactly as it was left on the day the lights were switched off in 1945. As well as Churchill's bedroom and the Transatlantic Telephone Room, which was disguised as a private toilet where Churchill used to speak in secret to the President of the United States - an amazing example of the cutting-edge technology of the era.

After being immersed in the history of this crucial site in world history, our alumni finished off the afternoon with some coffee, tea and cakes at a nearby cafe.
