As the pupils undergo the transition from junior to senior school, the trip – which is organised annually - offers them an opportunity to experience exciting activities through which they gain independence and develop team working skills, as well as making new friendships.

This year’s trip saw pupils participate in climbing, kayaking, gorge walking, mountain biking and zip lining as well as team challenges and field studies.  A ‘Mini Duke of Edinburgh Award’ experience was also been built into the programme, giving the youngsters the chance to spend a night camping and to take part in a short hike involving some basic navigational instructions.

Deputy Head Senior School, David Brett, said, “The F1 pupils will never forget the Nethybridge Residential. Their shared experiences allowed them to build relationships, with peers and staff alike, that will carry them through their school days and beyond.

“Whether the personal challenge was climbing a rock face or finding a dry pair of socks, every pupil had an opportunity to develop resilience while becoming part of a team with their new house group.”
