End of school year 2019/20: See you in August...

With our school year now over, normally we’d be wishing everyone ‘happy summer holidays’ at this point.

End of school year 2019/20: See you in August...

We still do of course wish that, but we also recognise that this is a summer like no other.

Since April we’ve moved to online learning and teaching, with almost 19,000 lessons having been delivered through Teams. For the first time in over 130 years, no SQA exams have taken place. For the first time we’ve been running a Care Hub for the children of key workers. For the first time, we’ve just held a virtual Sports Day, virtual music concerts and a virtual Prizegiving. For the first time, music and PE lessons have been taking place at home – we apologise for any disruption parents! And for the first time, we’ve not been able to wish our Leavers well in person.

The list of ‘firsts’ we’ve all experienced during this unique situation is endless. Thank you to our pupils who’ve shown such fortitude to take everything in their stride, to our staff who have worked so hard, and above and beyond, to allow us to move to online teaching, and to our parents and friends, who have supported the school during these unprecedented times.

We hope to be able to welcome everyone back in to school, safely, 5 days a week, in August. That’s what we’re working towards and planning for and we’ll be in touch with parents with further details in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, we wish you a happy school holidays. Stay safe.
