Gripping drama at the High School of Dundee as pupils perform Lord of the Flies

Pupils in F3 to F5 are currently in rehearsal for their production of William Golding’s famous story, Lord of the Flies, which runs from Monday 17 June to Wednesday 19 June.

Based upon Nigel Williams’ stage adaptation of the novel, the performances will see Trinity Hall’s stage transformed as an outward-bound trip goes terribly wrong and a group of school pupils find themselves washed up on a deserted island.

Cut off from society, and free from the restraints of civilization and parental controls, the young castaways soon find themselves in a world of chaos and brutal savagery.

The play text follows the narrative of Golding’s original text, which many audience members will be familiar with from their school days, according to Head of Drama, Lindsay Drummond.

She said, “Our production remains true to the vision of the novel, but with a more contemporary setting.

“The story and its message are both still really relevant today. At what point would you stand up and say something? At what point would you intervene, at what point would you stand up and say no, enough is enough, that must stop?”

The performances take place nightly at 7.30pm and tickets (adults £7, concessions £5) are available from the School Library librarian@highschoolofdundee.org.uk
